Compelled by the Crucifixion

“It was hard to see him being crucified,” admitted seven-year-old Putri, when she first watched the Superbook episode, “He Is Risen!” with her friends. “They nailed his hands and feet and also put a thorny crown on His Head. He received that because of our sins.”

Putri’s mother had invited their friends and neighbors over to all watch Superbook together. “The kids were curious about the crucifixion,” she said. “They were really paying attention. And they all were touched by what they saw. They jumped as the soldiers drove the nails through Jesus hands and feet.”

For the first time in her young life, Putri understood her own need for a Savior, so she prayed to receive Jesus into her heart. She was so excited about it that when her father, Yudi came home later, she couldn’t wait to tell him about the episode, as well as her new decision for Christ. “I told my dad that I learned that Jesus was crucified for us,” Putri explained. “I love my daddy and I wanted him to believe in Jesus too.”

As Yudi was listening to his daughter, he suddenly remembered something that had happened to him three weeks earlier. He had been on the couch, resting after work, when he had a vison that God spoke to him and told him: “It’s time to choose!” Now, after speaking with his daughter, he understood what the vision meant.

“I thought: ‘This is the day when I will choose to follow Jesus,’” he said. From then on, Yudi attended church with his wife and daughter.

“I want to say thank-you to the people who support Superbook,” said Putri gratefully. “Because of you, my dad and I came to know Jesus!”
